BRINGING FOOD HOME (2017)
Gaia Gardens was a three-and-a-half acre plot of land located near the Arroyo de los Chamisos in Santa Fe. Bordered by a popular bicycle and walking trail, the parcel seemed ideal for an urban farm. Offering a full array of market vegetables and community-based projects, it gained broad support from neighbors. However, a farm in a residential zone also caused a flurry of reactions, which raised larger questions for a community grappling with its potential.
